Kittens are
available at certain times of the year as the Birman is a seasonal breeder. This
season is from June/July through to March when everyone can take a breather
& well earned rest. The little ones are available at varying times
throughout the season. Mostly every kitten of mine has a home before it is born,
but at times the new owner’s situation or mind has changed in the interim thus
freeing a kitten for someone else. I give first choice to those who keep in
contact with me through out the months leading up to arrival of their potential
kitten, this way I am sure that these people are genuine buyers, not those who
become all fired up with the look and nature of the Birman and go into a “must
have” mode, like some folk who go to cat shows to look, or who have seen a
Birman at a friend of a friend’s house etc. etc. I spend (too) much time with
the kittens as they grow and develop, playing with them etc and great care and
attention is paid to the nature, temperament and the social skills of each
kitten. With all the time given to each you will have a loving and well
socialised kitten. This education is given by not just myself but my husband
also lends a hand in this process. I feel that it essential that all kittens be
familiar with the things that go to make up a human male, ….. the overall size
of a man, the deepness of the voice, the size and feel of their hands and their
natural masculine smell.

My kittens are
12 weeks old when they leave and are wormed, vaccinated, health checked,
micro-chipped (if requested) and the pets are desexed. Also, when you come to
have the first look at your selected kitten, you are given two lists, one of the
requirements needed before the kitten’s arrival to your home, ie carry
basket, litter tray, what type of litter the kitten is used to etc., and the
second is about the diet, the one kitten is currently used to and it is
recommended to continue with. Information on worming, grooming and vaccinations
is also given as handouts, along with written advice on responsible cat
ownership, introducing cats & dogs, second animals in the house and general
instructions on how to bring up the kitten to be sociably acceptable in your
home. I will export, but there could be quite a wait for a show quality
breeding kitten as I have a very high quality personal standard for this
category of kitten. I feel that a cat which is exported out of Australia, for
breeding and showing, must be of an extra specially high quality as this kitten
is an advertisement not only for the cattery where it was bred, the quality of
stock being bred there, but also Australian Birmans.
